Slow down mummy, come and spend some time with me.

slow down mummy, lets put our boots on and go out for a walk,
lets kick at piles of leaves, and smile and laugh and talk.
slow down mummy, you look ever so tired,
come sit and snuggle under the duvet and rest with me a while.

slow down mummy, those dirt dishes can wait,
slow down mummy, lets have some fun, lets bake a cake!
slow down mummy I know you work a lot,
but sometimes mummy, its nice when you just stop.

sit with us a minute,
& listen to our day,
spend a cherished moment,
because our childhood is not here to stay!

The Many Faces Of Eli

Following on from my earlier post titled ' The Many Faces Of Lily' I now bring to you  'The Many Faces Of Eli '!!

He is such a delight , he is always smiling!

Lily came up to me while I was taking a photo of Eli and asked me to take a photo of her .... and this is what she did.

The Chocolate Induced Coma.

After putting Eli into bed for his midday sleep, I took Lily to her room, she has dropped her nap, but I still insist that she has a little rest, reading books and playing quietly for a while , both for her benefit and mine.
 I closed the door and made myself a well earned cup of tea, I listened to her bang away at her toys while I eddited photos. After a while, I snapped out of my peaceful alone time and realised that the house was silent. Could it be that she was asleep? No surely not, I think to myself ... my little girl has never just fallen asleep.
I continue editing another photo , and although the obvious reason for such silence is sleep, I begin to worry ... Could she be sick? Could she have climbed up her bookshelf, fallen down and knocked herself unconscious? MY BABY!!  I quickly jump up and run to her room, ready to perform CPR or call 000 .
The sight that welcomes me however is very different to that in my mind. Somehow Lily had pulled down her Advent Calender that I had hanging from a hook in her ceiling and was lying asleep in a chocolate induced coma, wearing nothing but her undies, red shoes, and a tell-tale face smeared with chocolate.

I went back to my cup of tea with a very big smile on my face, and a warm happy feeling in my heart.

Tinkerbell's horse

For some time, Lily's rocking horse has been known as Bullseye, after her favorite toys horse in the movie Toy story. Time is changing however. Since going to the movie theaters for the very first time the day before Eli's birth, to see Tinkerbell, fairy's have been an obsession. Her rocking horse is now known as Tinkerbell's horse. And Lily is now know as Tinkerbell.

They say silence is golden ... unless you have a toddler ... silence is very suspicious!

It was a gorgeous afternoon and Lily asked to eat her dinner outside so I set her up on her little toadstool table and went inside to feed Eli . Not long after lily came in with a small toy turtle and said  "turtles like to swim don't they " I said yes sweetie they like to swim in the sea " they like water don't they " yes they do Lily, they love to swim, and thought nothing more of it  until I went out to check on her and found that she was giving the turtle a bath ... and herself.

Today when I told Lily that I needed to put Eli to bed she insisted that I put him in her bed first so that she could read him a story. I love that she loves reading so much , it opens up a whole new world. And I love that she is warming to her new brother.

Day 8 - Photo A Day June

Day 8: Wake up sleepy head

Lilys favourite sleep toy is her Kitty , and being white sometimes Kitty needs to be washed , or just gets lost and so for this reason we have back-up kitty.... but Mummy slipped up and left both Kitty's out!. Lily was delighted to find TWO kittys and quickly named the new kitty the baby kitty and the other one the sister kitty.

Day 7: Shhh

Forever keeping a keen eye on everything I do and mimicking my actions, it was no surprise to find Lily in my studio getting her bunny ready for his newborn photos on my posing bag. After wrapping bunny up nice and tightly she proceeded to pat him soothingly and shhh him off to sleep.

Day 6: Funny Faces

We took advantage of a rainy day to make 'funny face' biscuits. 

Not so much a fan of eating these though... just pulling off the sultana's and choc drops and 'sharing' the rest with mum or dad.

Day 5: Slowly and carefully

Every bit as excited to play with stamps as all the other children in her play group , but more dedicated to the cause of staying clean. Lily held each stamp by the plastic tags when required to avoid any contact with the ink ... and no she does not get this from me.

Day 3:A spot of gardening


With a break in the rain, we headed outside to do some gardening.. we planted some lettuce, but as you can see, we may need to look at some security measures for the vegie patch. :)

We have certainly hit winter ... and with winter comes indoor play!
We had some furniture arrive on Friday .... in boxes ! And boxes are perfect for indoor play .
As I cut out the door and window's Lily very seriously remindede me that the knife was sharp , and as soon as I finished she told me to put it away  :)  x

DAY 1 :  On Fridays Lily goes to day care while I get some editing done .. however today we also had a visit to our obstetrician to say hi to our newest addition to our family ... nicknamed Gnomie while in the womb :)  

21 weeks 

Dear Gnomie, 

You are every bit loved , and we are looking forward to your arrival  and since mothers day, nesting has been in full swing. 

We have emptied out the spare room ready to turn it into a toddler room for your sister Lily so that we can have the nursery all ready for you . 

I have bought you a few things , and love to pull them out from their box and think of you. 

You are so strong and I could feel you before they suggested I could,and now you are making every movement known with a swift kick if I lie on my back or lean to far over.

Like your big sister my only craving is milk... except you like a spoonful of Milo in each glass.

Sweetie, stay safe and well . We love you so.

Happy Birthday Lily

To Lily ,

Our gorgeous girl, you have grown up so much, and each day we love you more and more. These 2 years have gone by in a blink of an eye! 
You are such a cheeky little miss! Nothing could have prepared us for parenthood as we know it now , but we wouldn’t change it for the world .... Although I am very VERY glad you have finally started sleeping through the night.
 I love to watch you play and how you mimic us with your baby doll. Your favorite toy at the moment is woody from toy story, you wrap him, rock him and put a nappy on him just like a baby on some days and ride him around on a horse on others. You love to have books read to you and you and have started learning your letters and can sing your alphabet perfectly!
You have also started going to daycare one day a week and although I am not sure if you love it yet, you love to boss the kids around ... That’s right!! 
SHhhhh go to sleep boy ! Lily’s Sleeping ! or NO that’s Lily’s and Don’t do that girl! I think you think you are a mother already so am very interested to see how you go in October when your brother or sister arrives.
You love dancing and love to spin in circles, You love me singing to you ... your favorites are My baby Lily  ( made up especially for you ) , Hey Diddle Diddle, Rock A Bye Baby and Deep in the hundred acre woods ( Winnie The Pooh), you also love Incy Wincy Spider and are learning the actions  I LOVE WATCHING THIS! your chubby little hands slowly moving , and the intense look in your eye as you try to mimic my movements.
 I am very proud of you, we are both very proud of you and can’t wait to see you continue to grow ... but know you will ALWAYS be my baby girl.

Some of you may have noticed that my blog and Facebook posts have been a little less frequent lately, this is because I have been a little bit sick and A LOT tired of late with baby no two on the way. I am however feeling a lot better now and finally full of energy again  so be prepared to have your news feeds clogged with all the beautiful little babes I have been photographing.
