Day 31 - Photo A Day January

Today is the last day of January and with that is the end of my Photo a day challenge January. I hope you have enjoyed this journey as much as I have and are inspired to do this challenge along side me next year. 

I will continue to take photos regularly thought the year as I always have and will continue to share quick glimpses throughout the year with you.

I am sad to finish this challenge but also excited to be planning my next creative sessions!

Day 29 Happy Chinese New Year- Chinese Gardens

Today's pics were actually not going to be of Lily , I was going to capture the excitement of the Chinese new year parade, the dragon dance and crackers exploding... but Lily gripped so hard around my neck that it was impossible to pass her to Simon so that I could do my thing, so instead today's photos are of the Chinese gardens that were so peaceful in comparison. I am not sure that Lily appreciated its beauty, but she sure did love throwing rocks into the water.

Day 27  "NO That's Lily's"

Not yet understanding that a dolls pram is for dolls, I showed her by placing baby inside, she reacted with a very strong "No that's Lily's!" before hoping straight inside .... she fit ... just.

Day 26  Australia Day 

It was a rainy day here in Sydney for Australia day , so our outdoor plans were canceled and we spent the day at home listening to triple J and relaxing  .... Did I say relaxing !!!?  

Well as much as possible with a toddler, as you can see here by bedtime Lily was struggling to keep her eyes open, even for her favorite book.

Day 25- Photo A day January

Day 25  Lily 22 MONTHS.

Happy.

Thinks she’s a big kid.

Loves babies.

Remains as cheeky as ever.

Has started toilet training and loves her 'big girl' undies.

Is shy around those she does not know and hides in the nook of my neck or between my legs.

Says no and mummy at least 100 times a day. 

When she hides and I say aloud  " is she over here" she says "no"and giggle as if she is invisible and I cant hear her when she is hiding.

Her form of dancing is turning around till she falls over

Favorite foods - Meatballs , sliced chicken, broccoli , asparagus , peas,couscous and mum mum biscuits ( yes I know but she really does love her greens !) 

Her current Hero is her uncle Damien ... I am not sure what he did to win this affection but she keeps on telling me that uncle Damien is coming or asking Where's uncle Damien?

Does not sleep through the night and at this rate will be Two before she does.

Is adding toys to the ' must sleep with list' every month and a concerned that there will be no room for her soon. In the list are Kitty , Hoot , lady beetle , hedgehog and fox, Gimmo bunny night light and baby.

Can count to 12
Loves to show her independence.

Is perfectly, perfect for our family.

Is loved so so much !

Day 24 - photo A Day January

Day 24  There once was a girl with a very little curl...

Lily gets alot of her looks from her dad, her gorgeous dark eyes and long lashes esspecially.Her hair line is also her daddy's , but the colour of her hair, and these curls are defiantly from me.
I haven't taken her for a hair cut yet , and without a clip, her eyes are covered with hair and it often looks like a bird has made a nest in her hair, but I love these little curls and am not quite ready to say goodbye to any of them just yet.

I was pre-warned by a lovely customer that  undies in size 1 were hard to come by , so when all  I could find was plain white training undies I already had an idea in mind to create the extensive collection that was depicted in the Princess Polly book. A quick trip to spotlight to buy some iron on transfers and some fabric markers and we had all we needed to make some undies perfect for the little princess in my life.

Only two accidents today , we are off to a great start.

Day 22  ...Princess Polly's Potty 

 

Toilet training has started for miss Lily . We bought a potty  for her straight after Christmas however we had little success in getting her to actually sit on it, but today I found the Princess Polly book which grabbed her attention in a heartbeat!  We can follow Princess Polly on her potty training adventure and press the sound button to cheer her along!

 

After reading it 5 times in a row , we had good reason to cheer, Lily had used the Potty for the very first time. x

Holding her hand with my heart, I have stepped away just a little ... It takes every bit of effort to stop myself running over and making sure she does not fall while climbing the stairs 'big girl style' .  x

My baby is growing up and starting to grip a little less tightly to my hand and starting to explore .... in the words of Humphrey the elephant and mimicked by Lily ... " all aboard pinky , we're going on an adventure".

Baby is very important in our house , second to Kitty in fact. 

Lily is often carrying her around and bringing her to me to have her nappy changed or sing rock a bye baby while she rocks and kisses her and says shhhhh shes sleeping with such gentle affection.

While driving Lily will hold her looking outwards saying  "look baby!"

She mimics me so much that when she tells baby to "be quiet" or "don't" I realise just how much she absorbs and how I need to be a good example for her and her baby.

Day 16   Our little book worm...

We spend so much time reading together , Lily is happy to read the one story ten times before moving to another ( she is actually happy to read them more than ten times in a row ... me not so much ) . She knows some so well that she can recite them word for word. 

She also loves to sit and read quietly alone, I love to listen to her recite the words she knows  and watch the smile that spread across her face when she comes to her favorite page, or the look of concentration as she oh so carefully turns the page.

I do it !  Lilys favourite saying at the moment as she insists on her independence . 
This singlet is not quite right,but any mothers reading will know the pride I felt as she came shuffling up to me with this singlet, worn with her legs through the arm holes, and a grin from ear to ear. x

I often wonder if she will be at the creative end of the spectrum like her mum  or more  an engineer like her dad, maybe in -between.

 I hope that whatever she does in life makes her happy and that I have taught her one thing ... follow your dreams little one. x

Day 11: I hope that she can one day look back at these photos and see herself the way I do , and feel the love that I have for her

Day 11: My little helper ... 

 

She is my little shadow that copies everthing I do , if i cook then so does Lily and if we use an extra PACKET of flour than so be it . 

And yes that is her tasting flour ... did she like the taste " NO NOT A BIT ! " ( Quote from  Hairy Maclary her favorite book and saying  at the moment )

Day 10  :Following the horses and donkeys having a quiet dip in the sink, was a mini tsunami in the kitchen .... yes things got  very wet once Lily decided, that what the horses really wanted was a good splash!

Day 9  : Its raining its pouring.... It had been such a warm day that Lily was delighted with the idea that I let her run about in the rain to cool down.

Day8  : After a big day at the beach yesterday ( and a bad nights sleep away from home the night before due to us forggeting her beloved kitty ) we all enjoyed a sleep in on Sunday ... especially Lily who slept till 8am! ( I think we can all agree that is much better than 5am ) .

But once again two photos ! yikes and we are only on day 8.

Day 7 : We spent our Saturday with some good friends in Bateau bay where Lily enjoyed exploring the sea-side. There were way too many photos to pick from today so I decided on two, although I could easily add ten  :P

Day 6 : Lily has finally discovered swings! she has realised that moving her body has something to do with making the swing go and laughed and laughed as she wiggled her body and tossed her legs around. x

Day 5 : One of the best investments I ever made was a $ 8.00 tub of plastic animals from Woolworths!  She loves making all the animal sounds as she makes them walk with those gorgeous chubby little hands.

Day 4:  I love that Lily has learned to play a little on her own , I love to watch her and listen to her chatter...  " cook cook cook ... it's ready ... sit down baby. "   I LOVE HER!

Day 3 : A dandelion is a weed to some but to others  they are truly amazing ... I must admit , I love them , but I love Lilys smile, when I point one out even more.

Day 2 : Lily enjoys a splash in the pool with her Gran. She loves the water and despite having blue lips from the cold, she tried to wriggle her way out of the towel as I dried her, pleading ... " one more time ... Last one !"
